Ephesus Turkey: A Family Adventure
My daughter and I started our journey in Glasgow. We took a short flight to London, where we met up with my husband. We stayed in London for three days to watch the Andrea Bocelli concert—it was absolutely amazing and such a special experience for our family.
After our time in London, we flew to Izmir, Turkey. As soon as we arrived at the airport, we picked up our rental car and drove straight to the Ibos’s Hotel. It was a simple and cozy place—perfect for a good night’s rest before the adventure ahead.
The next morning, we hit the road to Ephesus. The drive was smooth and easy, taking just about an hour. As we got closer, we could already feel the history in the air. The ancient city of Ephesus was waiting for us, and we couldn’t wait to explore.
Ephesus Turkey: A Funny Family Moment
We finally arrived at Ephesus. But before we could even step out, we ran into an unexpected problem—my husband and I couldn’t figure out how to lock the car!
We pressed buttons, tapped the key fob, and even flipped through the manual, but nothing worked. The more we tried, the more confused we got. It was hilarious and a little frustrating at the same time. Luckily, our daughter was with us. She took one look at the controls, pressed the right button, and just like that, the car was locked. We couldn’t stop laughing at ourselves.
With that little adventure behind us, we were finally ready to explore the ancient wonders of Ephesus.

Visiting the House of the Virgin Mary: A Special Moment in Ephesus
After exploring the ancient ruins of Ephesus, we were filled with excitement as we made our way to the House of the Virgin Mary. This was more than just another historical site—it was a place of deep peace and faith. Knowing that many believe Mama Mary spent her final years here made the visit feel even more special.
The air felt calm, almost sacred. We couldn’t wait to step inside, say a prayer, and take in the quiet beauty of this holy place. It was a moment we had been looking forward to, and finally, we were here.

A Peaceful Visit to the House of the Virgin Mary
Outside, we lit a candle and said a prayer, feeling grateful for this experience. Then, with whatever paper we could find in our bags, we quickly wrote down our prayers and placed them in the wishing wall, just like so many visitors before us. It was a simple yet meaningful moment, one we would never forget.
Wrapping Up Our Unforgettable Day in Ephesus
Before leaving, we stopped for a late lunch at a nearby restaurant, enjoying delicious local dishes. Of course, we couldn’t miss the chance to try Turkish coffee—strong, rich, and full of flavor. Sipping it slowly, we took in the final moments of our incredible visit.
With our hearts full and our feet tired, we headed back to our hotel in Izmir, reflecting on the amazing places we had seen. From ancient ruins to sacred sites, Ephesus had been an unforgettable experience, one we would cherish forever.
